Downloads
| System | Download |
|---|---|
| Mac | Zornov-0.1.2-macos-aarch64.dmg |
| Windows | Zornov-0.1.2-windows-x64.msi (installer) |
| Windows | zornov-windows-x64.zip (portable) |
| Linux | zornov_0.1.2_amd64.deb (Debian and Ubuntu) |
| Linux | Zornov-0.1.2-x86_64.AppImage |
| Linux | zornov-linux-x86_64.tar.gz (portable) |
Each is around 60 to 70 MB. Get them from zornov.com/download or the latest GitHub release.
Linux libraries
Zornov needs these libraries on Linux. Most desktop installs have them already.
| Library | Ubuntu and Debian package | Fedora package |
|---|---|---|
| ALSA (sound) | libasound2t64 | alsa-lib |
| SQLite | libsqlite3-0 | sqlite-libs |
| Vulkan loader | libvulkan1 | vulkan-loader |
The .deb package installs the ALSA and Vulkan packages for you.
Screen
The editor window can't be made smaller than 960 by 600, so your screen needs at least that much room. You can make the interface larger or smaller, from 80% to 200%, in Settings > General > Interface size.
Memory
Zornov keeps decoded frames in memory so scrubbing stays smooth. By default it uses up to 8 GB for this. Change it in Settings > Playback > Frame cache, anywhere from 1 GB to 64 GB.
Disk space
Besides the app, plan room for:
- Your projects. A project folder holds the edit and its backups. Your media stays where it is and isn't copied.
- Caches and proxies. Cached frames, waveforms and proxies. Clear them in Settings > Storage with Clean up cache.
- The content library (optional): stickers, pictures, music and sound effects, a download of about 280 MB. You get it from the Assets or Audio section of the Library.
- AI models (optional): downloaded only when you ask, from Settings > Models. They range from a few megabytes to about 1.7 GB each.
Internet access
Zornov works offline. It uses the internet only for:
- checking for and downloading updates (you can turn automatic checks off)
- the AI editor, which sends your requests to the AI provider you choose
- downloading the content library and AI models, when you ask
- voice services such as ElevenLabs and Fish Audio, if you add their keys
AI editor
The AI editor is optional and off until you turn it on. To use it you need one of these:
- a Claude API key from Anthropic
- an OpenAI API key
- Claude Code installed and signed in
- Codex installed and signed in
See The AI editor. To use Zornov from an AI assistant instead, see Use Zornov from Claude, Codex and other AI assistants.
Screen readers
Zornov works with VoiceOver on Mac, Narrator and NVDA on Windows, and Orca on Linux.
